Power Steering Pump Pulley - Installation
INSTALLATION
1. Place pulley hub over pump shaft.
NOTE: Later build pumps feature a shaft with internal threads that are not as deep as earlier production, thus requiring a stack of washers, approximately 13 mm (0.5 in.) thickness, placed over the pulley before mounting Installer C-4063C on the pump. To know if a replacement pump requires the stack of washers, measure the depth of the shaft hole. A later build pump will have a depth of 20 mm (0.78 in.) while an earlier build pump will have a depth of 32 mm (1.25 in.).
2. As necessary (see above note), place a stack of washers approximately 13 mm (0.5 in.) thickness (2) over pulley hub.
NOTE: Installer, Special Tool C-4063C, is a combination of Installer, Special Tool C-4063B, and Forcing Screw, Special Tool C-4063-2. It is important to use Forcing Screw C-4063-2 when performing this procedure.
3. Thread Installer (1), Special Tool C-4063C, completely into internal threads of power steering pump shaft, then rotate Installer Nut down against washers (as necessary) on pump pulley.
4. Ensuring that special tool and pulley remain aligned with pump shaft, tighten Installer Nut, forcing pulley onto power steering pump shaft until washers come in contact with end of pump shaft. When washers contact end of pump shaft, Installer Nut will no longer rotate.
5. Remove special tool from power steering pump.
6. Install power steering pump on engine.Power Steering Pump - Installation.
