Intake Manifold Replacement - Left Side




Intake Manifold Replacement - Left Side (LMM)

Removal Procedure




1. Remove the center intake manifold. Refer to Center Intake Manifold Replacement (LMM) (Service and Repair).
2. Remove the auxiliary generator, if equipped. Refer to Auxiliary Generator Replacement (Auxiliary Generator Replacement).
3. Remove the left fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2 (Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2).
4. Remove the injection pump. Refer to Fuel Injection Pump Replacement (Service and Repair).
5. Remove the intake manifold bolts/nuts.

Note: The intake manifold uses sealer. Pry at the area by the fuel rail bolt holes in order to avoid damage to the sealing surface.

6. Remove the intake manifold.
7. To prevent entry of debris into the cylinder head, tape the openings.
8. Clean the gasket surfaces.

Installation Procedure




1. Apply a 2-3 mm (1/8 in) wide, by 0.5-1.5 mm (1/16 in) high bead of sealant to the intake manifold. Refer to Adhesives, Fluids, Lubricants, and Sealers (Specifications).




2. Install the intake manifold.
3. Install the intake manifold bolts/nuts.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution (Fastener Caution).

4. Tighten the intake manifold bolts/nuts in the sequence shown to 25 Nm (18 lb ft).
5. Install the fuel injector pump. Refer to Fuel Injection Pump Replacement (Service and Repair).
6. Install the left fuel rail. Refer to Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2 (Fuel Injection Fuel Rail Assembly Replacement - Bank 2).
7. Install the auxiliary generator, if equipped. Refer to Auxiliary Generator Replacement (Auxiliary Generator Replacement).
8. Install the center intake manifold. Refer to Center Intake Manifold Replacement (LMM) (Service and Repair).
