Instrument Panel Tie Bar Replacement (Chevrolet)

Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to SIR Caution in Service Precautions. Disable the SIR system.

1. Remove the instrument panel.
2. Disconnect the wiring harness from the tie bar.




3. Remove the bolts (2).

Important: Steering column must be in the straight tilt position, using the tilt lever.

4. Remove the tie bar (1) from the front of the dash.

Installation Procedure




1. Install the tie bar (1) to the front of the dash.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

2. Install the bolts (2) and the studs (3).

Tighten the bolts and the studs to 10 N.m (89 lb in).

3. Connect the wiring harness to the tie bar.
4. Install the instrument panel.
