Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement
INSTRUMENT PANEL CARRIER REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disable the Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) system. Service and Repair
2. Remove the steering column from vehicle.
3. Remove the LH front assist handle screws.
4. Remove the LH front assist handle.
5. Remove the RH front assist handle screws.
6. Remove the RH front assist handle.
7. Remove the windshield pillar moldings. Refer to Windshield Garnish Moulding Replacement. Service and Repair
IP Carrier Replacement: Removal Procedure:
8. Remove the passenger side Instrument Panel (I/P) access panel.
9. Remove the passenger side air deflector. Refer to Air Distributor Assembly. Service and Repair
10. Remove the inflatable restraint I/P module cover. Refer to Passenger's Inflator Module. Service and Repair
11. Remove the I/P compartment. Service and Repair
12. Remove the passenger side SIR module. Refer to Passenger's Inflator Module. Service and Repair
13. Remove the center console. Refer to Lower Console. Service and Repair
14. Remove the center console air duct from console area once exposed.
15. Remove the radio tape player bezel. Refer to Accessory Trim Plate.
16. Remove the radio. Service and Repair
17. Remove the climate control head. Refer to Control Assembly. Service and Repair
18. Remove the center air deflector.
19. Remove the driver's side access panel.
20. Remover the driver's side upper air deflector. Refer to Air Distributor Assembly. Service and Repair
21. Remove the headlamp switch. Service and Repair
22. Remove the driver's side vent housing.
23. Remove the driver's side vent bracket.
24. Remove the instrument cluster.
25. Remove the fuse and relay panel screws.
26. Remove the fuse and relay panels from I/P.
27. Remove the steering column support bracket nuts.
28. Remove the steering column support bracket bolt.
29. Remove the I/P carrier bolts LH side.
30. Remove the I/P carrier bolts RH side.
31. Remove the headlamp automatic control ambient light sensor. Service and Repair
32. Remove the wiring harness connectors from I/P carrier.
IMPORTANT: The wiring harness cannot be removed with carrier.
33. Remove the wiring harness clips from the I/P carrier.
34. Remove the I/P carrier.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IP Carrier Replacement: Installation Removal:
1. Install the I/P carrier into mounting position.
2. Install the wiring harness clips to I/P carrier.
3. Install the wiring harness connector to I/P carrier.
4. Install the headlamp automatic control ambient light sensor.
5. Install the I/P carrier bolts LH side.
TIGHTEN
Instrument panel carrier bolts to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
6. Install the I/P carrier bolts RH side.
TIGHTEN
Instrument panel carrier bolts to 22 Nm (16 lb ft).
7. Install the steering column support bracket bolts.
TIGHTEN
Steering column support bracket bolts until fully seated but not stripped.
8. Install the steering column support bracket nuts.
TIGHTEN
Steering column support bracket nuts until fully seated but not stripped.
9. Install the fuse and the relay panels to I/P.
10. Install the fuse and the relay panel screws.
TIGHTEN
Fuse and relay panel screws until fully seated but not stripped.
11. Install the instrument cluster.
12. Install the driver's side vent bracket.
13. Install the driver's side vent housing.
14. Install the headlamp switch.
15. Install the driver's side upper air deflector.
16. Install the driver's side access panel.
17. Install the center air deflector.
18. Install the climate control head.
19. Install the radio.
20. Install the radio tape player bezel.
21. Install the center console air duct to console area.
22. Install the center console.
23. Install the passenger side SIR module.
24. Install the I/P compartment.
25. Install the Inflatable restraint I/P module cover.
26. Install the passenger side air deflector.
IP Carrier Replacement: Removal Procedure:
27. Install the passenger side I/P access panel.
28. Install the windshield pillar moldings.
29. Install the RH front assist handle.
30. Install the RH front assist handle screws.
TIGHTEN
RH front assist handle screws until fully seated but not stripped.
31. Install the LH front assist handle.
32. Install the LH front assist handle screws.
TIGHTEN
LH front assist handle screws until fully seated but not stripped.
33. Install the steering column to vehicle.
34. Enable the SIR system.
