Removing and Installing/Replacing Rear Exhaust Manifold

18 40 060 - Removing and installing/replacing rear exhaust manifold (N53/N52/N52K/N51)





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove coolant expansion tank Service and Repair

- Remove underbody protection Removing and Installing/Replacing Front Underbody Protection (AWD)

- Remove complete exhaust system Service and Repair

- In all-wheel-drive vehicles: Remove bearing block for drive shaft on right 31 53 040 Removing and Installing/Replacing Right Output Shaft Bearing Block

- Remove right engine support arm Replacing Right Engine Support Arm





Note:
The oxygen sensors are in danger of being damaged when the exhaust manifolds are removed and installed.

Remove control sensor from cylinders 4 to 6.

Remove monitor sensor from cylinders 4 to 6.

Installation:
Tightening torque 11 78 1AZ .





Unscrew nuts.
Remove exhaust manifold (1).

Installation:
Clean sealing faces and replace seals.
Replace nuts.
Tightening torque 18 40 1AZ 18 40 Exhaust Manifold.
