51 47 315 - Removing and installing / replacing front carpet for passenger compartment
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove storage compartment 51 16 200 Removing and Installing Storage Compartment
- Remove both front seats
- Remove glove compartment 51 16 366 Removing and Installing Right Glovebox With Housing
- Remove both side trim panels in footwell
- Remove trim panel for pedal assembly 51 45 185 Removing and Installing/Replacing Panel For Pedals
- Remove accelerator pedal module Service and Repair
Version with central bass speaker:
- Remove both central bass speaker trims Removing and Installing/Replacing Left or Right Central Bass Speaker (Under Front Seat)
Release screws (1).
Feed out Bowden cable (2) and remove holder (3).
If necessary, disconnect plug connections from air duct (1).
Remove air duct (1).
Release screws (1) on left and right and remove panel (2) outwards.
Cut out carpet (4) at marked cutting edges (3) on left and right.
Important!
If there are no marked cutting edges (3), align cuts as far as possible in direction of middle of vehicle. This ensures that the cutting edges are covered by the storage compartment/instrument panel.
Pay attention to cables when cutting (risk of damage).
Remove carpet (4) toward rear/top and if necessary feed out cable.
Replacement:
Cut out carpet at marked cutting edges (1).
If there are not marked cutting edges (1), place removed carpet over new piece and carry cuts over to new carpet.
Installation:
Apertures (3) serve as alignment points for fitting the carpet (2).
Replacement from build date 03/07:
Depending on transmission variant, cut out apertures (1) for shifting gate.
Use removed carpet as reference for trimming new carpet.
If necessary, refit apertures which have been cut out too much after fitting (sound insulation).
