Removing and Installing, Sealing/Replacing Oil Sump (M54/56)
11 13 000 - Removing and installing, sealing/replacing oil sump (M54/56)
Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drain engine oil Engine Oil
- Remove front left and right output shafts Removing and Installing/Replacing Left or Right Output Shaft.
- Remove front axle differential Removing and Installing/Replacing Front Differential.
- Release vane pump Removing and Installing/Replacing Vane Pump for Power Steering (M54) for power steering (lines remain connected).
- Remove oil dipstick Service and Repair.
- Secure engine in installation position Securing Engine In Installation Position (M54).
- Detach steering spindle Removing and Installing/Replacing Lower Section of Steering Spindle from steering gear.
- Lower front axle Lowering/Raising Front Axle Carrier.
(Front axle alignment is not required).
- Disconnect plug connection on oil level sensor.
- Remove oil lines for automatic transmission.
Release oil sump screws along line (1).
Installation:
Tightening torque: 11 13 2AZ [1][2]11 13 Oil Pan
Move oil pan backwards.
Release transmission screws (1).
Automatic transmission: Tightening torque, 24 00 1AZ Transmission in General.
Manual transmission: Tightening torque, 23 00 1AZ Transmission in General.
Installation:
Clean sealing surfaces.
In area of joint, apply approx. 3 mm of Drei Bond 1209 sealing compound (refer to BMW Parts Service)
Assemble engine.
Check engine for leaks.
