Front Door Latch: Service and Repair

Removing and Installing/Replacing Door Lock on Left or Right Front Door

Remove door trim panel. Service and Repair

On Models with side airbag:
Caution! Removing and installing/replacing airbag module on left or right front door. [1][2]Procedures




Pull off cover.

Installation:
- Replace cover.




On sedan:
Unscrew bolt (1) and unhook guide rail downwards. Unclip wires and disconnect plug.




On sedan:
Installation:
- Hook top of guide rail in sheet metal opening.




On sedan:
Unscrew bolt. Unhook door opener on linkage and remove.




On coupe/convertible:
Unscrew screw.

Unclip clip. Unhook door opener on the linkage and remove.




Loosen wire strap and pull off plug.




Turn holder and disconnect plug.




Pull wires off door lock.

Installation:
- Secure wires in the holder.




Unfasten screws.

Installation:
- Install screws with Loctite 270.
- Tightening torque = 9 Nm (6.6 ft lb)




Unclip linkage towards rear.




Lift door lock slightly and unhook on linkage of outside door handle.

Remove door lock downwards.

Installation:
- Insert linkage for catch button through opening in inner door panel. Do not bend linkage.


Only replace:

Lift out locking device and remove actuator drive from central locking unit.

Installation:
- Check function.
