Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motors (V48)/(V49), through MY 2011
Removing
- Remove the headlamp. Refer to => [ Headlamp Housing ] Headlamp Housing.
- Release the spring clip - arrow - and remove the cover - 1 - from the headlamp.
- Turn the headlamp height adjustment screw - 3 - clockwise as far as the stop - arrow -.
• This guides the lamp unit in the headlamp into the "high position".
- Disconnect the electrical connector - 2 -.
- Rotate the positioning motor - 1 - on the left headlamp clockwise and the one on the right headlamp counterclockwise.
- Disengage the positioning motor from the headlamp.
• Positioning motor axle should not be disengaged from the headlamp
- Pull the adjusting motor - 1 - back gently until the motor axle can be removed from the headlamp light unit ball joint - 3 -.
• Axle pins are then in ball joint cut outs - arrows -.
- Remove the adjustment motor from the headlamp.
• Components are shown without the headlamp to provide a better illustration.
Installing
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Bi-Xenon Headlamps with Cornering Lamp Overview, through MY 2011 ] Bi-Xenon Headlamps With Cornering Lamp Overview, Through MY 2011.
Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:
- Make sure the ball joint - 3 - is inside the guide for the headlamp light unit.
- Pull the headlamp light unit in the headlamp toward the back and hold it firmly.
- Engage the adjusting motor axle pins in the ball joint.
• The axle pins must engage in the cut outs on the ball joint - arrows -.
- Position the quick release on the adjusting motor on the headlamp housing.
- Engage the adjusting motors - 1 - by rotating counterclockwise on the left headlamp and clockwise on the right headlamp.
- Connect the electrical connector - 2 - to the adjusting motor.
• Ignore the - arrow - and - item 3 -.
- Close the cover and secure it using the spring clip.
- Install the headlamp housing. Refer to => [ Headlamp Housing ] Headlamp Housing.
