Cylinder Head Overview






Cylinder Head Overview

The cylinder head for cylinder bank 2 (left) is shown in the illustration.






1 Cylinder Head Gasket

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Cylinder Heads ] Cylinder Heads

Installed position: The part number faces toward the cylinder head

After replacing, change coolant and engine oil

2 Cylinder Head

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Cylinder Heads ] Cylinder Heads

Check for distortion

After replacing, change coolant and engine oil

3 O-ring

Replace

4 Camshaft Position Sensor

Cylinder bank 1 (right) Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor (G40)

Cylinder bank 2 (left) Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor 2 (G163)

5 Bolt

6 Bolt

Replace

Follow the sequence when loosening => [ Loosen the cylinder head bolts in the following sequence. ] Cylinder Heads

7 Ignition Coil

8 Cylinder Head Cover

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Left Cylinder Head Cover ] Left Cylinder Head Cover, => [ Right Cylinder Head Cover ] Right Cylinder Head Cover

9 Gasket

Replace if damaged or leaking

10 Cover

11 Hose

For crankcase ventilation

12 O-ring

Replace

13 Bolt

Replace if the seal is damaged

14 Bolt

15 Connector Strip

For ignition coils

16 Gasket

For cylinder head cover

Replace if damaged or leaking

17 Camshaft Adjustment Solenoid Valve

Cylinder bank 1 (right) camshaft adjustment valve 1 (N205)

Cylinder bank 2 (left) camshaft adjustment valve 2 (N208)

18 Bolt

5 Nm

19 O-ring

Replace

Left Cylinder Head Cover, Tightening Specifications and Sequence





- Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm in the following sequence: - 1 to 12 -.

Right Cylinder Head Cover, Tightening Specifications and Sequence





- Tighten the bolts to 9 Nm in the following sequence: - 1 to 12 -.

Replace bolts that are tightened to the specification.

- Tighten the bolts in 4 steps in the sequence shown:






Checking Cylinder Head for Distortion





- Check the cylinder head on several locations for distortion using a straight edge 500 mm (VAS 6075) and a feeler gauge.

Maximum warp: 0.05 mm.

Reworking Dimension, Cylinder Head





Resurfacing cylinder head (face grinding) is only permissible to minimum dimension - a -.

Minimum dimension - a - = 139.20 mm.

Oil Dipstick Guide Tube - Tightening Specifications





- Tighten the bolt - arrow - to 9 Nm.
