Refrigerant Lines At Condenser, Disconnecting and Connecting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Engine Bung Set (VAS 6122)

Removal






- Drain the refrigerant circuit.

- Remove the lock carrier cover.

- Remove the screw - 2 - and disconnect the refrigerant line - 1 -.

- Seal open lines and connections with a clean plug from the (VAS 6122).

- Remove the bumper cover end plate.






- Remove the screw - 1 - and disconnect the refrigerant line - 2 -.

- Seal open lines and connections with a clean plug from the (VAS 6122).

Installation






Installation is done in reverse order, observe the following:

• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Refrigerant Lines, Condenser, Expansion Valve, A/C Compressor Overview ] Refrigerant Lines, Condenser, Expansion Valve, A/C Compressor Overview.

- Replace the O-ring seals. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

- If present, check the alignment pin - 4 - for damage and proper seating.

- Check the guide ring - 2 - at the refrigerant line connection for damage.

- Insert the O-ring seal - 3 - in the groove - arrow - at the refrigerant line connection - 1 -.

• Coat the O-ring seals lightly with refrigerant oil prior to installation. Refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit O-rings ] Refrigerant Circuit O-Rings.

• Check the O-ring seals for proper seating in the groove - arrow - of the respective refrigerant line.

• Following attachment, check routing of refrigerant pipes. They must be inserted in holders provided and not make contact with other components.

- Insert the refrigerant lines into each connection on the condenser.

- Tighten the bolts.

- Evacuate and fill the refrigerant circuit.

- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit. Refer to => [ A/C System, Operating After Filling Refrigerant Circuit ] A/C System, Operating After Filling Refrigerant Circuit.

- Install the bumper cover end plate and the lock carrier cover.

After completion of the repair work, perform the following work on the control head using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function:

- Read out the event memory and erase any displayed entries.
