Fluid Reservoir
• The reservoir may be attached to or integrated in the condenser, depending on the version of the condenser. If the condenser has an integrated reservoir, replace the dryer cartridge. Refer to => [ Dryer Cartridge ] Dryer Cartridge.
Removal
- Drain the refrigerant circuit.
- Remove the lock carrier cover.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Remove the air guide - 1 -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Remove the air guide - 1 - on the flange - 2 - for the air filter housing.
- In vehicles without a charge air cooler, remove the bumper cover end plate.
- Remove the charge air cooler.
- Push the protective boot - B - upward at the connecting point.
- Remove screws - A -.
- Remove the bolt - C - and the bracket - D - upward.
- Remove the reservoir - F - upward from the condenser - E - - arrow -.
• Be sure not to loose the rubber grommet - B - when removing the reservoir.
• Seal open connections on reservoir and condenser with suitable caps (to prevent dirt and moisture from entering).
Installation
Installation is done is reverse order, observe the following:
- Replace the O-ring seals. Refer to Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
- Clean the condenser surface - C -.
- Check the connections on the condenser and on the reservoir for damage.
- Insert the O-ring seals - D, E - into the grooves - arrows - at the particular connection.
• Coat the O-ring seals lightly with refrigerant oil prior to installation. Refer to => [ Refrigerant Circuit O-rings ] Refrigerant Circuit O-Rings.
• Check the refrigerant pipes to the evaporator for contamination and damage.
• Check the O-ring seals for proper seating in the groove - arrow - of the respective connection.
- Mount the reservoir - B - on the condenser and tighten the screws.
• Tightening specification: 10 Nm
- Pull the protective sleeve - A - over the connection.
- Install the charge air cooler.
- In vehicles without a charge air cooler, install the bumper cover end plate.
- Install the lock carrier cover.
- Evacuate and fill the refrigerant circuit.
- Operate the A/C system after filling the refrigerant circuit. Refer to => [ A/C System, Operating After Filling Refrigerant Circuit ] A/C System, Operating After Filling Refrigerant Circuit.
After completion of the repair work, perform the following work on the control head using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding" function:
- Query the event memory and erase any displayed entries.
