Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Special hook (3370)

Removing

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove the front seat:

• Manual standard seat => [ Standard Seat and Sport Seat, Manual ] Standard Seat and Sport Seat, Manual.

• Power Standard seat, refer to => [ Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat ] Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat.

- Attach front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) => [ Installing Front Seat on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] Installing Front Seat on Fixture For Seat Repair VAS 6136.

- Remove backrest => [ Backrest ] Backrest.

- Vehicles with front passenger seat with a LATCH child seat anchor: remove the LATCH child seat anchor. Refer to => [ LATCH Child Seat Anchorage, Front Seat ] LATCH Child Seat Anchorage, Front Seat.

- Equipment level with storage compartment: remove the storage compartment. Refer to => [ Storage Compartment ] Storage Compartment.

- Remove the bracket for the sill-side trim:

• Manual standard seat => [ Sill-Side Trim Bracket ] Sill-Side Trim Bracket.

• Power Standard seat, refer to => [ Sill-Side Trim Bracket ] Sill-Side Trim Bracket.

Front passenger seat - country-specific with passenger occupant detection system for front passenger airbag deactivating:






Never disconnect the connector - 4 - from the passenger occupant detection system control module (J706).

- Disconnect the connector - 3 - from the control module.

- Remove the screw - 1 -.

- Disengage the control module - 2 - from the bracket - arrow - and free up the control module and wire.

Continuation for driver seat and front passenger seat:






- Disengage the hooks - 1 - and - 4 - from the lower seat frame - 2 -.

- Disconnect and free up the electrical connectors.

- Detach the molding - 3 - from the seat cover - 5 - in the rear area using the special hook (3370).

- Detach the molding - 2 and 4 - from the seat cover in the front and side areas using the special hook (3370).






- Remove the seat cover - 1 - with the seat cushion from the lower seat frame - 3 -. If necessary, free up the wiring harness for the seat heating and passenger occupant detection system.

Installation

• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic, Electrical and Mechanical Restraint System Components, Safety Precautions and Testing Procedures ] Testing and Inspection.

• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

• Observe all measures when installing the front seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat ] Power Standard Seat/Sport Seat/Super Sport Seat.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
