Removing
• If glove compartment cover does not open, it can be opened via the emergency release. Refer to => [ Glove Compartment Lid Emergency Release, Operating ] Glove Compartment Lid Emergency Release, Operating.
- Disconnect the ground cable from the battery with the ignition on.
- Vehicles with a CD changer: remove the CD changer.
- Vehicles with a card reader: remove the card reader.
- Remove the side instrument panel cover on the passenger side. Refer to => [ Instrument Panel Side Cover ] Instrument Panel Side Cover.
- Open the glove compartment cover and remove the screws - arrows -.
Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Remove glove compartment - 1 - just far enough until it is possible to disconnect the connector from the central connector.
Installation
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Press the electrical connector together until it engages audibly.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again. Refer to Vehicle diagnostic tester.
