Oil Pressure Switch, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Oil Pressure Gauge (V.A.G 1342)

• Voltage Tester (V.A.G 1527B)

• Connector Test Set (V.A.G 1594C)

Procedure

• Oil level OK

• Engine oil temperature approximately 80 °C (176 °F)

- Remove the oil pressure switch (F1). Refer to => [ Oil Pressure Switch ] Oil Pressure Switch.

- Connect the (V.A.G 1342) into the opening for the oil pressure switch.





- Install the oil pressure switch - 2 - in the oil pressure gauge.

- Connect the brown wire - 1 - on the oil pressure gauge to the ground (GND).

- Connect (V.A.G 1527B) using adapter cables from (V.A.G 1594C) to oil pressure switch and battery positive.

• LED must not light up.

• If the LED is already on, then replace the oil pressure switch.

- Start engine.

• While starting engine, watch the oil pressure gauge and LED as oil pressure switch may open during start.

• The LED must illuminate at 0.55 to 0.85 bar.

- Replace the oil pressure switch if the LED does not come on. Refer to => [ Oil Pressure Switch ] Oil Pressure Switch.
