02EA (S-Tronic) Transmission
Oil Pan
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Oil Collecting and Extracting Device (V.A.G 1782)
Removing
Risk of transmission damage.
• Do not run engine or tow vehicle with oil pan removed or without transmission fluid.
• General repair instructions, refer to => [ Repair Information ] 02EA (S-Tronic) Transmission.
• Observe cleanliness rules when working on transmissions, refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] 02EA (S-Tronic) Transmission.
- Drain the transmission fluid. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid, Replacing or Filling after Repair ] Transmission Fluid, Replacing or Filling After Repair.
- Remove the left and right front wheel spoilers.
- Remove the frame for the noise insulation - arrow -.
- Loosen the clamps - 1 and 2 - and remove the air guide hose.
- Remove the nuts - arrows - and the bracket on the front side of the transmission fluid pan.
• The threaded bolts are welded to the front of the oil pan.
• There are different brackets depending on the date of manufacture.
- If the vehicle has a shield on the transmission, then remove the shield - A - - arrows -.
Risk of destroying DSG transmission Mechatronic with electrostatic electricity.
• Do not touch contacts in DSG transmission Mechatronic connector with hands.
- To discharge electrostatic, touch vehicle ground with hand (without glove).
- Disconnect the connector - 4 - on the transmission by turning screw connection counterclockwise.
• Ignore - 1, 2 and 3 -.
- Place the (V.A.G 1782) under the transmission.
- Loosen the bolts - arrows - diagonally.
- Remove the oil pan - A - with oil pan gasket and let the transmission fluid remaining in the oil pan drain into the used (V.A.G 1782).
Installing
Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Oil Pan - Tightening Specification and Sequence ] Oil Pan, Mechatronic and Transmission Fluid Pump Overview.
• Replace the oil pan seal and bolts.
• Replace the O-rings - arrows - on the DSG transmission Mechatronic connector.
- Clean sealing surfaces; they must be free from oil or grease.
- Coat O-rings on DSG transmission Mechatronic connector with gear oil.
- Mount the ATF pan - A - and gasket and tighten, follow the tightening sequence. Refer to => [ Oil Pan - Tightening Specification and Sequence ] Oil Pan, Mechatronic and Transmission Fluid Pump Overview.
• When positioning the oil pan, ensure electrical wires are not pinched.
- Install the frame for the noise insulation.
- Install the left and right front wheel spoiler.
- Fill transmission with oil. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid, Replacing or Filling after Repair ] Transmission Fluid, Replacing or Filling After Repair and check oil level => [ Transmission Fluid, Replacing or Filling after Repair ] Transmission Fluid, Replacing or Filling After Repair.
