Torque Converter: Description and Operation
Torque Converter Overview
Danger of causing damage to the torque converter or the Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) pump.
• Check the installed dimension of the torque converter before installing the transmission. Refer to => [ Installed Dimension ] Removal and Replacement.
Danger of leaks on the torque converter seal.
• The covers - items 3 through 8 - prevent dust and dirt from getting into the torque converter bellhousing. Install the covers if necessary.

1 - Torque Converter

• Check the installed dimension for the torque converter before installing the transmission. Refer to => [ Installed Dimension ] Removal and Replacement.
2 - Shaft Seal
• For the torque converter.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Torque Converter Shaft Seal ] Torque Converter Shaft Seal.
3 through 8 - Covers
• When installing the transmission, install in the openings provided.
• Prevents dust and dirt from getting into the torque converter bellhousing and the torque converter seal from leaking.
9 - Bolt
• 85 Nm
• For securing the drive plate to the torque converter.
