Timing Chain: Service and Repair
Chain Sprocket
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Press Tube (30-100)
• Thrust piece (40-105)
• Two-arm puller, commercially available
• Protective gloves
Removing
• Engine removed. Refer to => [ Engine, Removing ] Engine, Removing.
- Remove oil pan. Refer to => [ Oil Pan ] Oil Pan.
- Remove front sealing flange. Refer to => [ Front Sealing Flange ] Service and Repair.
- Remove oil pump drive chain => [ (Item 7) Drive chain for oil pump ] Oil Pan and Oil Pump Component Overview.
- Remove driveshaft chain sprocket, e.g. with Claw Puller (Kukko 44-1) - 2 - while protecting crankshaft end with thrust piece (40-105) - 1 -.
Installing
CAUTION!
Wear protective gloves!
- Heat up the chain sprocket in an oven for approximately 15 minutes at 220 °C.
- Place the chain sprocket with long pliers on shaft end.
• Installation position: The wide collar of the chain sprocket faces the engine.
- Slide chain sprocket onto stop on crankshaft using Press Tube (30-100).
