Cylinder Head Component Overview





1 Cylinder head gasket

• Replacing, refer to => [ Cylinder Head ] Cylinder Head.

• Installation position: Part number facing cylinder head

• Replace coolant after replacing

2 Cylinder Head

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Cylinder Head ] Cylinder Head

• Check for distortion => [ Checking cylinder head for distortion ]

• Reworking dimension => [ Reworking dimension, cylinder head ]

• Replace coolant after replacing

3 Oil deflector

• Note installation position

4 Cylinder head bolt

• Replace

• Observe sequence for loosening => [ Remove the cylinder head bolts in sequence. ] Cylinder Head

• Observe sequence for tightening => [ Tighten cylinder head bolts in 3 stages
in the tightening sequence shown as follows: ] Cylinder Head

5 Cylinder head cover

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Cylinder Head Cover ] Service and Repair

6 Ignition coil

7 Cap

8 Gasket

• Replace if damaged or leaking

9 10 Nm

• First tighten the inside nuts

• Tighten the outside nuts diagonally

10 Cylinder head cover gaskets

• Replace if damaged or leaking

• Seal contact surfaces with sealant before installing => [ Seal contact surfaces of double bearing cap/cylinder
head ] and => [ Seal contact surfaces of camshaft adjuster/cylinder
head ]

11 Gasket

• Replace

12 Secondary Air Injection (AIR) combination valve

• With connection

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve ] Service and Repair

13 10 Nm

14 Coolant flange

• With coolant temperature sensor

15 10 Nm

16 O-ring

• Replace

Checking cylinder head for distortion





- Check cylinder head at multiple points for distortion, using straight edge and feeler gauges.

• Permissible distortion: Max. 0.1 mm.

Reworking dimension, cylinder head





- Resurfacing cylinder head (face grinding) is only permissible to minimum dimension - a -.

• Minimum dimension: - a - = 139.20 mm.

Seal contact surfaces of double bearing cap/cylinder head





- Coat the upper sealing surface of the cylinder head - arrows - with a small amount of sealant.

Seal contact surfaces of camshaft adjuster/cylinder head





- Coat the - arrows - upper sealing surface of the cylinder head with a small amount of sealant; sealant.
