Valve Cover: Service and Repair






Cylinder Head Cover

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Ignition Coil Puller (T40039)

Removing

- Open quick-release fasteners - arrows - and remove the engine cover.





- Remove the right cover - 1 - in the engine compartment, if equipped.





- Disengage Evaporative Emission (EVAP) Canister Purge Regulator Valve (N80) - 1 - from air guide.





- Remove bolts - arrows -.

- Remove air duct - 2 -.

- Remove crankcase housing ventilation pipe - 2 -.





- Remove crankcase ventilation hose on the cylinder head cover.

- Remove pipe - 1 - on the combination valve for secondary air injection on the cylinder head cover and on the heat shield - 3 -.

- Move the pipe to the side.

- Remove Ground (GND) wire - 2 -.





- Disconnect the electrical connectors - 3 - and free up the electrical wires.

- Remove ignition coils - 1 -.

Use the Ignition Coil Puller (T40039) to remove the ignition coils.





- Release the 2 retaining clamps for the upper toothed belt guard.





- Remove nuts - arrows - and remove the cylinder head cover.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Always replace gaskets and seals.

Replace cylinder head cover gaskets if damaged.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.

- Coat the upper sealing surface of the cylinder head - arrows - with a small amount of sealant; sealant.





- Coat the upper sealing surface of the cylinder head - arrows - with a small amount of sealant; sealant.





- First tighten the inside nuts for the cylinder head cover, then tighten the outside nuts diagonally - arrows -.





- Install the upper toothed belt guard while carefully engaging the center toothed belt guard.
