Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed
XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed (without navigation)
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
1. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Go to step 3.
NO -
Go to step 2.
2. Measure the voltage between audio unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 1 and audio unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 1.
NO -
Replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal / Installation.
3. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
4. Measure the voltage between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and body ground.
Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES -
Go to step 5.
NO -
Repair an open or high resistance in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 11 and audio unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 11.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
6. Disconnect these items:
- Audio unit connector C (14P)
- USB adapter control unit connector A (14P)
- XM receiver connector A (14P)
7. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Repair a short to body ground in the wire between XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2 and audio unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 2.
NO -
Go to step 8.
8. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (14P) terminal No. 2 and XM receiver connector A (14P) terminal No. 2.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
Repair an open in the wire between the audio unit and the XM receiver.
9. Check for continuity between XM receiver connector A (14P) and audio unit connector C (14P) according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 10.
NO -
There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.
10. Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector.
11. Check for continuity between audio unit connector C (14P) and body ground according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -
Go to step 12.
12. Check for continuity between the terminals of audio unit connector C (14P) according to the table.
Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES -
There is a short in the wires between the audio unit and the XM receiver. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -
Go to step 13.
13. Reconnect these items:
- Audio unit connector C (14P)
- HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector
- USB adapter control unit connector A (14P)
14. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
15. Turn on the audio unit.
16. Press the USB/AUX button several times.
Is the display changed to other mode?
YES -
Replace the XM receiver XM Receiver Removal / Installation (Without AcuraLink).
NO -
Go to step 17.
17. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
18. Disconnect USB adapter control unit connector A (14P).
19. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
20. Turn on the audio unit.
21. Press the USB/AUX button several times.
Is the display changed to other mode?
YES -
Replace the USB adapter control unit USB Adapter Control Unit Replacement (Without Navigation).
NO -
Go to step 22.
22. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
23. Reconnect USB adapter control unit connector A (14P).
24. Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector.
25. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
26. Turn on the audio unit.
27. Press the USB/AUX button several times.
Is the display changed to other mode?
YES -
Replace the HandsFreeLink control unit Service and Repair.
NO -
Replace the audio unit Audio Unit Removal / Installation.
