Audio System Symptom Troubleshooting - Audio unit button does not work
Audio unit button does not work (with navigation)
NOTE:
- Check the vehicle battery condition first Battery Test.
- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.
1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
2. Press the VOLUME/POWER knob on.
Does the audio system turn on?
YES -
Go to step 3.
NO -
Go to Audio unit power switch will not turn on (No information display and no sound) troubleshooting Audio Unit Power Switch Will Not Turn On (No Information Display And No Sound) (With Navigation).
3. Rotate the VOLUME/POWER knob to see if the volume changes.
Does the volume change?
YES -
Go to step 4.
NO -
Go to Volume does not change troubleshooting Volume Does Not Change (With Navigation).
4. Operate all buttons in the appropriate switch list.
Switch list
Do all the items in the appropriate switch list work properly?
YES -
Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
NO -
If the all buttons do not respond, go to step 5. If not, substitute a known-good audio-navigation switch panel Audio-Navigation Switch Panel Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation switch panel Audio-Navigation Switch Panel Removal/Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
6. Disconnect the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector.
7. Disconnect audio-navigation unit connector D (36P).
8. Check for continuity between the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector and audio-navigation unit connector D (36P) according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
Go to step 9.
NO -
There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation switch panel and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
9. Check for continuity between the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector and body ground according to the table.
Is there continuity?
YES -
There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation switch panel and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -
Go to step 10.
10. Check for continuity between the terminals of the audio-navigation switch panel 24P connector according to the table.
Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES -
There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation switch panel and the audio-navigation unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
NO -
Substitute a known-good audio-navigation switch panel Audio-Navigation Switch Panel Removal/Installation, and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation switch panel Audio-Navigation Switch Panel Removal/Installation. If the symptom/indication is still present, replace the audio-navigation unit Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation.
