Symptom Troubleshooting: The doors will not unlock or lock with the remote, but will unlock or lock with the door outer handles
The doors will not unlock or lock with the remote, but will unlock or lock with the door outer handles
1. Remove the remote from the remote slot, and close all doors.
2. Push the UNLOCK button of the remote, at least 10 times.
Do the door lock actuators work normally?
YES - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
NO - Go to step 3.
3. Open the driver's door.
Does the key-in reminder sound?
YES - Go to keyless access symptom troubleshooting "Key-in reminder sounds is removed from the remote slot and door is open". Symptom Troubleshooting
NO - Go to step 4.
4. Turn the keyless access system mode switch ON.
5. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
Does the system change to ON mode?
YES - Go to step 8.
NO - Go to step 6.
6. Insert the remote into the remote slot.
7. Press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.
Does the system change to ON mode?
YES - Go to the keyless access system symptom troubleshooting "Cannot select ON mode with keyless access, but can select ON mode with keyless access remote in the remote slot". Symptom Troubleshooting
NO - Go to the keyless access system symptom troubleshooting "Cannot select ON mode with keyless access or with keyless access remote in the remote slot". Symptom Troubleshooting
8. Connect the HDS to the data link connector (DLC).
9. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Are any DTCs indicated?
YES - Go to the indicated DTC troubleshooting.
NO - Go to step 10.
10. Select KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL UNIT from the ONE-PUSH START SYSTEM system select menu with the HDS, and enter HISTORY CLEAR.
11. Select HISTORY DATA with the HDS.
12. Insert the remote into the remote slot, then check the HISTORY DATA.
History Data
Is all the information OK?
YES - Go to step 13.
NO - Go to step 20.
13. Select KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL UNIT from the ONE-PUSH START SYSTEM system select menu with the HDS, then enter SELF CHECK.
14. Select KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL UNIT from the ONE-PUSH START SYSTEM system select menu, and check for KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL UNIT DTCs.
Are any DTCs indicated?
YES - Troubleshoot the KEYLESS ACCESS CONTROL UNIT DTCs.
NO - Go to step 15.
15. Select KEYLESS from the BODY ELECTRICAL system select menu, then select INSPECTION, then KEYLESS CHECK.
16. Do the KEYLESS CHECK with the HDS using the remote.
Is DIFFERENT KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER CODE RECEIVED indicated?
YES - Register all the remotes, and recheck.
NO - Go to step 17.
17. Do the KEYLESS CHECK with the HDS using the remote.
Is DIFFERENT KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER CODE RECEIVED indicated?
YES - Go to step 18.
NO - Register the remote, and recheck. If the symptom does not go away, replace the remote.
18. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, and close all doors.
19. Lock and unlock the driver's door of the driver's door lock switch, and lock and unlock the front passenger's door of the front passenger's door lock switch.
Do the door lock actuators work normally?
YES - Go to the driver's MICU input test, and do all power, ground, and communication input tests. Multiplex Integrated Control System MICU Input Test If the tests prove OK, replace the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box. Driver's Under-Dash Fuse/Relay Box (MICU) Removal/Installation
NO - Check the B-CAN system DTCs. If not, check the door lock system.
20. Press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.
21. Remove the remote from the remote slot.
22. Disconnect the remote slot 16P connector.
23. Close all doors, and push the UNLOCK button of the remote.
Do the door lock actuators work normally?
YES - Replace the remote slot. Keyless Access System Remote Slot Test/Replacement
NO - Replace the keyless access control unit. Testing and Inspection
