Symptom Troubleshooting




Symptom Troubleshooting: XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed

XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed (USA models with navigation)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first.

- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

- If you replace the XM receiver, the AcuraLink must be reactivated by Acura Client Services.

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

2. Disconnect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P).

3. Measure the voltage between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Repair open in the wire between No. 15 (10 A) fuse in the under-hood fuse/relay box and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 1.






4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

5. Measure the voltage between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 3 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 6.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the No. 18 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 3.






6. Measure the voltage between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 7.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the No. 12 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 2.






7. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

8. Reconnect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P).

9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

10. Measure the voltage between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 28 and body ground.

Is there less than 0.2 V?
YES - Go to step 11.

NO - Repair open in the wire between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No 28 and body ground (G501).. Audio Wire Harness Connector And Harness Locations






11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

12. Disconnect these items:
- Audio-navigation unit connector C (14P)

- HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector

- AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (14P)

- Navigation display unit 32P connector

13. Check for continuity between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and audio-navigation unit connector C (14P) according to the table.





Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 14.

NO - There is an open in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver). Replace the affected shielded harness.






14. Check for continuity between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and body ground as shown.

Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the audio-navigation unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver). Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 15.






15. Check for continuity between the terminals of AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) according to the table.





Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES - There is a short in the wires between the audio-navigation unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver). Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Substitute a known-good audio-navigation unit (including the HDD), Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation) and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, replace the original audio-navigation unit. If the symptom is still present, substitute a known-good AcuraLink control unit or update the AcuraLink control unit, Programming and Relearning if it does not have the latest software, then recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away after the substitution, replace the original AcuraLink control unit. Acura Link Control Unit (XM Receiver) Removal/Installation If the symptom/indication goes away after the update, troubleshooting is complete. If the symptom/indication is still present, go to step 1 and recheck.
