Navigation System DTC Troubleshooting: 2705

DTC 2705: HFL Diag

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first.

- Before you troubleshoot, make sure to follow the general troubleshooting information. How to Troubleshoot the Navigation System (With Navigation)

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode, then back to ON (II), or the ON mode.

2. Go into the Diagnostic Menu, and select the Self-Diagnosis Mode in the Select Diagnosis Items menu. Navigation System Diagnostic Mode (With Navigation)

3. Check the System Links.

Is the XM (HIP) icon red?
YES - Go to DTC 2704 Troubleshooting. 2704

NO - Go to step 4.


4. Go into the Diagnostic Menu, and select the Self-Diagnosis Mode in the Select Diagnosis Items menu. Navigation System Diagnostic Mode (With Navigation)

5. Check the System Links.

Is the HFL icon red?
YES - Go to step 6.

NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.


6. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

7. Connect the HDS to the DLC. Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), or press the engine start/stop button to select the ON mode.

9. Check for HFL DTCs with the HDS.

Are there any HFL DTCs indicated?
YES - Do the HFL DTC Troubleshooting.

NO - Go to step 10.


10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0), or press the engine start/stop button to select the OFF mode.

11. Remove the center console panel. Center Console Panel Removal/Installation

12. Disconnect the HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector, Service and Repair and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P).

13. Check for continuity between the terminals of HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector according to the table.





Is there continuity between any of the terminals?
YES - There is a short in the wires between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver). Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 14.






14. Check for continuity between HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector terminals No. 6, No. 7, No. 20, and No. 21 to body ground.

Is there continuity?
YES - There is a short to body ground in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the HandsFreeLink control unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 15.






15. Check for continuity between the terminals of the HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) according to the table.





Is there continuity?
YES - Replace the HandsFreeLink control unit, and retest. If the symptom/indication does not go away, replace the audio-navigation unit. Audio-Navigation Unit Removal/Installation (With Navigation)

NO - There is an open in the wire(s) between the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) and the HandsFreeLink control unit. Replace the affected shielded harness.
