Contact reel driver airbag module, resetting

Preparations





Remove:
- the battery lead. See Battery, disconnecting Battery, Disconnecting
- the steering wheel. See Steering wheel, replacing Replacing Steering Wheel.

Unsecure the contact reel




Remove one Torx 20 screw.




Turn the contact reel counter-clockwise to the limit position.




Turn the contact reel clockwise two complete revolutions. Then turn clockwise until the screw hole is in position "one o'clock" as shown.

Note! On later car models, the yellow marking must also be visible in the window.

Secure the contact reel




Install the screw when the contact reel is in the locked position.
The contact reel is now reset and locked (secured).

Installation

Install:
- the steering wheel according to Steering wheel, replacing Replacing Steering Wheel
- the battery lead. See Battery, disconnecting Battery, Disconnecting.
