Driver information module (DIM), replacing

Removal

Note! The illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models. Some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparations

Note! Before replacing the control module all the program data should be read from the control unit. This is done in VIDA vehicle communication. After replacement the program data should be written to the new control module.




Ignition off.
Also read Battery, disconnecting Battery, Disconnecting.
Disconnect the battery negative lead. See Battery, replacing Removal and Replacement.




Adjust the steering wheel towards you and downwards.
Remove the screws from the surround.
Detach the upper steering column cover using a weatherstrip tool.
Remove the surround and the upper steering wheel cover.

Removing the driver information module (DIM)




- Remove the screws
- Angle out the combined instrument panel
- Disconnect the connector.

Installation

Installing the driver information module (DIM)
- Connect the connector
- Align the combined instrument panel
- Install and tighten the screws.

Finishing work
Install the surround and the upper steering wheel cover.
Install and tighten the screws
Order the software.
Program the new control module.

Finishing work
The customer parameters must be programmed after replacing the control module. The clock must also be reset.
