Front Bumper Cover / Fascia: Service and Repair







Casing bumper front, replacing

As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparations
Open and secure the hood.

Removing the front bumper casing





Remove:
- the 2 clips under the car (1 per side)
- the 2 side panels.
Detach the sides of the bumper by pulling it upwards at an angle and outwards.





Remove:
- the covers for the high-pressure cleaner (1)
- the covers for the screw mounting
- the 2 screws (2).




Pull the bumper straight out.
Release the quick-release connector (3) for the washer hose.




Disconnect the connectors for the fog lamps (4).
Remove the bumper.

Transferring components





Transfer:
- the 2 screws for the license plate
- the 4 screws (5) for the high-pressure cleaner
- the 2 clips (6) for the high-pressure cleaner
- the washer hose
- the rear section by releasing the 2 clips (7) and the 31 hooks
- the fog lamps. See Fog lamps front, replacing Removal and Replacement and Fog lamps front, replacing Removal and Replacement.




- the foam in the bumper
- the engine block heater (if applicable).




- the 2 grilles.

Installing the front bumper casing

Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.

Install:
- the foam for the rear section
- the rear section on the casing.
Press the 31 hooks and 2 clips into place.

Install:
- the washer hose
- the high-pressure cleaner
- the 4 screws and 2 clips for the high-pressure cleaner
- the license plate.
Tighten the screws.

Install:
- the quick-release connector for the washer hose
- the 2 connectors for the fog lamp.
Connect the additional engine block heater (if applicable).
Secure the bumper and install the 2 screws loosely.
Press the hooks into place on both sides of the bumper.

Hint: Guide in the sides of the bumper from above.

Install:
- the 2 M8 screws. Tighten
- the 2 side panels
- the 2 clips under the car
- the 2 grilles
- the 2 covers for the high-pressure cleaner.

Hint: Pull out the washer nozzle using pliers and secure the cover. Carefully release the washer nozzle.

Check that the headlamp washer is working.
