Supplemental restraint system module (SRS), replacing

Warning! The supplemental restraint system module (SRS) for the XC90 contains a new function, ROP (Roll Over Protection). This means that the control module cannot be worked on, removed or moved out of position without the power supply being switched off. Otherwise the airbags and seat belt tensioners may deploy.
Preparations
Remove the battery cable. See Battery, disconnecting Battery Disconnecting.
Removing the supplemental restraint system module (SRS)
Remove:
- the tunnel compartment. See: Center console, replacing Service and Repair
- the boot
- the connector
- the 3 screws.
Lift out the supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
Installing the supplemental restraint system module (SRS)
Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.
Note! Ensure that nothing is between the SRS (supplemental restraint system) module and the body panel, such as large particles of dirt or dust. This can cause over-sensitivity or poor SRS system function.
Install:
- the supplemental restraint system module (SRS)
- the 3 x M6 screws and tighten
- the connector.
- the boot
- the centre console. See Center console, replacing Service and Repair.
Final check
Order the software in accordance with: 9438415.
Program the new supplemental restraint system module (SRS).
Applies to MY 2005-
After downloading and configuring the control module the control module receives the vehicle configuration data from the central electronic module (CEM). This can take up to 15 seconds and during this time the SRS lamp flashes in the Driver information module (DIM). Downloading and configuration is complete when the SRS lamp stops flashing.
