Infotainment control module (ICM), replacing

Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparatory work

Hint: To determine whether the vehicle has a numeric display or a matrix display, shine a torch onto the display. The illustrations show which type it is.

Numeric display






Matrix display









Move the gear selector to its rearmost position.
Detach the panel at the gear selector lever as illustrated and move it to one side.





Caution! Angle the infotainment / dashboard environment panel to one side. Do not disconnect the connectors.

Remove the screws from the bracket.
Angle out the infotainment / dashboard environment panel as illustrated.




Move the gear selector lever to position P.
Ignition off.
Disconnect the connectors.




Remove the infotainment unit screws.
Release the clips and remove the infotainment unit from the bracket.

Removing the infotainment control module (ICM) / display, front panel and electrical switch modules





Remove:
- The front panel, clips.

Note! Check that both the fibre optic cables are secured in the panel by the CD tray.

- The screws for the left and right-hand electrical switch modules.
Disconnect the connectors.

Remove:
- The electrical switch modules
- The screws for the display.
Disconnect the connectors.

Installing the infotainment control module (ICM) / display, front panel and electrical switch modules




Reconnect connectors.
Position the modules, starting with the display.

Note! Check that the cable harnesses are not trapped.

Install and tighten the screws.

Note! Check that both the fibre optics are secured in the panel. See the illustration.

Press the panel into place.

Finishing work




Press the infotainment unit into place on the bracket.
Install and tighten the screws.
Reconnect connectors.

Note! The connectors for the MiniDisc and CD control modules are identical and can be switched.

Note! Check that there is no dirt in the optical connectors.

Note! The bend radius of the optic cables must not be less than 25mm.




Angle in the infotainment / dashboard environment panel and bracket.

Hint: Align the upper section, press upwards, angle in the lower section.

Install the screws in the lower section of the bracket and tighten.
Install the panel at the gear selector lever.

Note! After replacing the infotainment control module (ICM) / display, new software must be ordered and programmed.
