Lock mechanism front side door, replacing

Lock mechanism front side door (without deadlocking), replacing
Removing the lock mechanism from the outer front side door (without deadlocking)
The window must be in the uppermost position.
Remove the door panel. See Panel front side door, replacing Service and Repair.
Move the run-off profile to one side.
Remove:
- the link for the lock button
- the guide molding
- the 2 rivets. See Removing rivet Removing Rivets
- the guide rail.
Detach the links for the external handle.
Remove the 3 screws.
Lift the lock out of the door.
Remove the connector.
Unhook the cable.
Installing the lock mechanism for the outer front side door (without deadlocking)
Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.
When installing a new lock (replacement part), the clip which determines the position on the link for the lock cylinder must be removed after the lock mechanism and link for the lock cylinder have been installed.
Turn the clip 90 degrees and pull it out.
Hint: Keep the clip. The clip can be used the next time the lock is removed, in order to establish the position of the link for the lock cylinder.
Hook the cable into place.
Connect the connector.
Lift the lock into the door.
Install the 3 M6 screws. Tighten.
Caution! Ensure that the lower link mounting (for the lock cylinder link) on the lock mechanism has been placed in the center position, so that the holes (for the transit safety catch) in the casing for the lock mechanism and the hole in the link mounting arm correspond.
Install:
- the links for the external handle
- the guide rail
- the 2 rivets for the guide rail
- the guide molding
- the link for the inner lock button
- the run-off profile
- the door panel. See Panel rear side door, replacing Service and Repair.

Removing the lock mechanism from the outer front side door (with deadlocking)
Remove:
- the door panel. See Panel front side door, replacing Service and Repair
- the run-off profile
- the window. See Window front side door, replace Service and Repair.
Detach the weatherstrip up to the door arch.
Drill out the rivets. See Removing rivet Removing Rivets.
Remove:
- the glass guide.
- 1 screw.
Caution! Note the position of the cover at the member.
Work the cover out.
Note! There is no cover on the passenger side.
Detach the links for the external handle.
Remove the 3 screws.
Lift the lock out of the door.
Remove the connector.
Unhook the cable.
Installing the lock mechanism for the outer front side door (with deadlocking)
Note! For tightening torques, see Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame.

- the links between the outer handle and the lock
- the cover
- 1 M5 screw. Tighten
- the glass guide
- the 2 blind rivets
- weatherstrip.
Hint: Work in the weatherstrip using a little soap.
Install:
- the side window. See Window front side door, replace Service and Repair
- the run-off profile
- the door panel. See Panel front side door, replacing Service and Repair.
