This symptom troubleshooting only applies to vehicles that show any or some of the following symptoms:
- Tail light/Brake light does not work
- Cruise control/Does not engage
The problem may be due to the brake light switch or the brake pedal position switch being installed incorrectly.
Choose Continue to proceed to troubleshooting.

After replacing the stop lamp switch or the brake pedal position switch, it is necessary to check that it is correctly installed.
The instructions below must be carried out in the correct order:
- Start the engine.
- Release the brake pedal if it is depressed.
- Click on the VCT2000 symbol.
- Slowly press down the brake pedal.
If the symbols light up green, the connectors are correctly installed.
Note! If any of the symbols light up red, this may be due to the brake pedal being depressed too quickly or that the connector is not correctly installed.
Try again by slowly depressing the brake pedal.
If any of the symbols still light up red after 5 attempts, this indicates that the connector is not correctly installed.
Note! If no fault is found in the brake light switch or in the brake pedal switch, the fault may be due to the pressure sensor in the Brake control module (BCM). Check therefore any diagnostic trouble codes in the Brake control module (BCM).
