Cowl Moulding / Trim: Service and Repair
Plenum chamber

Removal
Removing the plenum chamber
Remove:
- the windshield wipers. See Wiper arm Service and Repair
- the 4 clips
Press the center pin down onto the clips.
Turn the 2 catches (1) anti-clockwise � turn.
Lift out the cowl.
Removing the splash guard
Note! Removing protective covers applies to vehicles with the following chassis numbers:
- S40 LHD -113670
- S40 RHD -113793
- V50 LHD.-113964
- V50 RHD.-114112.
Remove the old protective cover from under the cowl using a screwdriver or similar.
Remove the remains from the protective cover's plastic welds using a small chisel.
Installation
Installing butyl tape (LHD)
Applies to left-hand drive vehicles (LHD):
Apply butyl tape to the protective cover. Press the tape out slightly before securing to the vehicle.
Installing butyl tape (RHD)
Applies to right-hand drive vehicles (RHD):
Install the butyl tape on the protective cover, use an extra strip to seal the hole. Press out the tape slightly before securing to the vehicle.
Installing protective cover (LHD)
Applies to left-hand drive vehicles (LHD):
Install the protective cover by sliding it towards and under the windshield (1).
Press the front edge of the protective cover firmly so that the butyl tape adheres to the plate (2).
Installing the protective cover (RHD)
Applies to right-hand drive vehicles (RHD):
Install the protective cover by sliding it towards and under the windshield (1).
Press the front edge of the protective cover firmly so that the butyl tape adheres to the plate (2).
Installing the plenum chamber
Install the cowl in the correct position. Ensure that the rubber seals against the fenders and the windshield are correctly located. Check that the guide clips underneath the cowl are in the correct position in relation to the windshield.
Turn the 2 catches clockwise � turn. Check that the marking on the relevant catch is turned toward the windshield.
Install the 4 clips.
Note! Start with the outer clips.
Use a thin plastic film (transparent). Check that the cowl is correctly positioned against the windshield.
Caution! To prevent water leaks, the corners of the plastic film must not be between the cowl and the windshield.
