Exhaust manifold/gasket, cylinder 1, 3, 5 and 7 (bank 1), replacing

Removal

Removing the front sub-frame
Remove the front sub-frame. See: Sub-frame front, replacing, B8444S Service and Repair.

Removing the engine cooling fan
Remove the electric cooling fan. See Engine cooling fan (FC), replacing, B8444S Service and Repair.

Removing the front engine pad





Remove:
- the 3 M10 screws of the engine pad bracket in the engine block
- the engine pad with protective plate
- the connectors from the heated oxygen sensors and detach the lead from the clips and clamps.

Removal of exhaust manifold, cylinder 1, 3, 5 and 7 (bank 1)




Remove the 2 M6 screws of the support bracket for the exhaust manifold in the oil sump.




Remove 8 M8 nuts at the exhaust manifold flange toward the cylinder head.
Lower the exhaust manifold.
Remove the exhaust manifold gasket. Scrap the gasket.
When replacing the exhaust manifold, transfer the heated oxygen sensors. Use 999 5543 SOCKET NV-22 HO2S 999 5543 Socket NV-22 HO2S. Tighten as specified: Tightening torque, B8444S Tightening Torque.

Installation

Note! To ensure that there is no exhaust leakage, see: Flanged joint, assembling Removal and Replacement.

Installation of exhaust manifold, cylinder 1, 3, 5 and 7 (bank 1)





Install:
- a new gasket
- the exhaust manifold
- the 8 nuts. Tighten as specified: Tightening torque, B8444S Tightening Torque.





Install:
- the 2 M6 screws of the support bracket for the exhaust manifold in the oil sump; tighten
- the connectors to the heated oxygen sensors and the lead in the clips and clamps.

Installing the front engine pad





Install:
- the engine pad with protective plate.
- the 3 M10 screws of the engine pad bracket in the engine block; tighten.

Installing the engine cooling fan
Install the electric cooling fan. See: Engine cooling fan (FC), replacing, B8444S Service and Repair.

Installing the front sub-frame
Install the front sub-frame. See: Sub-frame front, replacing, B8444S Service and Repair.

Check
Start the engine and check for leaks and proper function.
