Removal

Removing the auxiliaries belt
Remove the auxiliaries belt. See Auxiliaries belt/belt tensioner, replacement, B8444S Service and Repair.

Removing the right front wheel
Raise the vehicle. See Jacking points, body Service and Repair.

Remove:
- the right front wheel
- the 1 plastic nut of the wheel arch liner. Bend aside the wheel arch liner.

Removing the vibration damper




Install counterhold 999 7196 Counterhold 999 7196 Counterhold. Undo the center screw.




Insert screw 999 7198 Press tool 999 7198 Press tool in the center hole of the crankshaft.




Install puller 999 5304 SEPARATOR 999 5304 Separator. Pull off the vibration damper.

Removing the front sealing ring





Remove:
- the sealing ring using puller 999 5069 EXTRACTOR 999 5069 Extractor
- screw 999 7198 Press tool 999 7198 Press tool in the center hole of the crankshaft.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see: Tightening torque, B8444S Tightening Torque.

Installing the front sealing ring




Install a new sealing ring with drift 999 7197 Drift 999 7197 Drift. Pull the drift in to the stop with the old center screw. Remove the drift.

Installing the vibration damper
Clean the surface for the sealing ring on the vibration damper with cloth 951 1024.

Caution! The direction of cleaning should be around the flange.





Install:
- the vibration damper
- screw 999 7198 Press tool 999 7198 Press tool in the center hole of the crankshaft.





Install:
- counterhold 999 7196 Counterhold 999 7196 Counterhold
- drift 999 7198 Press tool 999 7198 Press tool and press the vibration damper in to the stop using the old center screw. Tighten to 100 Nm.

Remove:
- the center screw; scrap it
- tools 999 7198 Press tool 999 7198 Press tool and 999 7198 Press tool 999 7198 Press tool.
Insert a new screw at the vibration damper and tighten as specified: Tightening torque, B8444S Tightening Torque.
Remove counterhold 999 7196 Counterhold 999 7196 Counterhold.

Installing the right front wheel

Install:
- the wheel arch liner; tighten the plastic nut
- the right front wheel. See Installing wheels Service and Repair.
Lower the vehicle.

Installing the auxiliaries belt
Install the auxiliaries belt. See Auxiliaries belt/belt tensioner, replacement, B8444S Service and Repair.

Check
Start the engine and check for leaks and proper function.
