Rear window tailgate

Removal
Removing the rear windshield
Remove:
- the tailgate panels. See: Tailgate/trunk lid panel Service and Repair
- the stop lamp
- the wiper motor
Disconnect rear windshield wiring.
Cut off approximately 5 m of wire from the roll.
Insert a wire inserter in the upper left-hand corner as illustrated.
Secure the wire and pull in the ends to the middle of the windshield.
Pull the wire around and downwards so it forms an eyelet around the outside of the windshield.
Check that the wire is at the bottom against the bead of adhesive.
Stretch the wire so it is still in position at the bottom. Pull in the excess from one end of the wire.
Position the winches as illustrated.
Insert a universal knife under the locating pins (1) so that the wire is guided up against the windshield.
Secure the long end of the wire in the right-hand winch. Raise about 20 cm.
Check that the loose end of the wire is not slipping.
Secure the other end of the wire to the left winch. Wind using both winches.
Move the right-hand winch to its new position. Wind in the rest of the wire.
Installation
Installing the rear windshield in the tailgate
If the vehicle has a spoiler, the locating pins on the windshield can be in the way when installing the windshield.
Install the rear windshield. See: Bonded window general, information Service and Repair.
Install:
- the wiring to rear windshield
- the wiper motor.
- the tailgate panels. Service and Repair
- the stop lamp.
