Front Bumper: Service and Repair
Bumper front, replacing

Removal
Removing the front bumper
Remove:
- the left and the right trim strip.
- the screws (1), 1 per side
- the 2 x front screws
- the 6 clips, on the upper side of the bumper cover
- the 2 clips on the underneath of the bumper (5).
Pull the bumper forward while pulling both the sides outwards so that the edge releases from the side bracket.
Hint: This operation is easier with two people.
Separate the connector for the fog lamp.
Repeat the procedure on the other side.
Disconnect the quick-release connector for the headlamp washer (if applicable).
Transferring components
Transferring components
Transfer:
- the radiator grille. See: Radiator grille, replacing Service and Repair
- the license plate holder and the license plate
- the fog lamps if applicable. See Fog lamps, front, replacing Fog Lamps, Front, Replacing.
Transferring the side bracket
Remove:
- the rivets, 3 per side.
- the screws, 3 on each side.
Transferring the rear section
Remove:
- the 2 clips on the underside of the bumper cover
- the 1 x clip for the washer hose if applicable.
Unhook the rear section from the bumper cover.
Transferring the spoiler
Unhook the 5 hooks on each side.
Transferring the headlamp washer nozzles
Transfer the nozzles. See: Nozzle high-pressure washer headlamp, replacing, B5244T5, B5254T2 Service and Repair.
Installation
Installing the front bumper
Note! For tightening torques, see applicable specifications.
Install:
- the quick-release connector for the headlamp washer
- the 2 connectors for the fog lamps.
Guide the lugs (3) in to the grooves on the side bracket (4).
Press at the top so that the lugs engage.
Press in the bumper cover as far as it will go.
Hint: This operation is easier with two people.
Install:
- the 2 x M8 screws. Tighten
- the 6 clips, on the upper side of the casing
- the 2 clips (5) on the underneath of the bumper
- the trim strip on the left and right-hand sides
- the screw (1), 1 per side. Tighten.
