Front safety belt retractor

Preparatory work

Adjusting the seat and disconnecting the battery cable




Slide the seat forward as far as possible.
Ignition off.
Disconnect the battery negative cable. See: Battery Disconnecting

Warning! Never measure with an ohmmeter or other live measuring instrument on a disconnected, non-deployed pyrotechnical SRS unit. There is a risk of the seat belt tensioner deploying.

Warning! A pyrotechnical SRS unit must never be dismantled, repaired, or moved to another vehicle.

Removal

Removing front seat belts





Remove:
- the B-post panel. See: B-pillar trim panel B-Pillar Trim Panel
- the connector for the igniter cable (1).
Loosen the screw, 1 pc., for the pyro pipe's (2) pipe clamp.

Remove:
- the screws (3), 2 pcs., for the belt roller (retractor)
- the front seat's side panel, see: Side panel front seat Side Panel Front Seat.
Insert a screwdriver on the inside of the end mounting. Remove the seat belt by pressing the catch inwards and pulling upwards.
Lift out the seatbelt roller (retractor) from the pipe clamp.

Installation

Installing the front seat belt.
Lift in the seatbelt roller (retractor) with pyro pipe in the pipe clamp.

Install:
- the seat belt
- the side panel as described in Side panel front seat Side Panel Front Seat
- the screws, 2 pcs. M10 for the belt roller (retractor). Tighten, see: Tightening torque [1][2]Body and Frame
- the screw, 1 pc., st, for the pyro pipe's pipe clamp. Tighten
- the igniter cable connector
- the B-post panel. See: B-pillar trim panel B-Pillar Trim Panel.

Finishing

Checking the function
Check the function of the belt as described in Seat belt function, check Testing and Inspection.
Carry out an inspection as described in Supplementary restraint system (SRS), inspection Component Tests and General Diagnostics.
