Front brake caliper

Preparatory work
Remove the wheel.
Secure the pedal in the depressed position. Use a pedal jack.
Remove the protective cap from the bleed nipple.
Install a plastic hose on the nipple.
Open the bleed nipple. Collect the brake fluid in a container.
Shut the bleed nipple.
Removing the brake caliper
Slacken off the brake hose half a turn.
Remove:
- the brake pads. Brake Pads, Front
- the brake caliper.
Unscrew the caliper from the brake hose.
Note! Collect the brake fluid.
Installing the brake caliper
Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque.
Install:
- the brake hose in the brake caliper. Do not tighten the hose fully yet
- the brake pads. Brake Pads, Front
Tighten the brake hose.
Tighten, see: Tightening torque Tightening Torque.
Note! Ensure that the brake hose is not twisted. If the brake hose is twisted, there is a risk of circuit failure.
Finishing
Fill and bleed the brake system
Remove the pedal jack.
To bleed the brake system, see: Brake system bleeding Brake System Bleeding.
Note! Use only Volvo Genuine parts brake fluid, Volvo DOT 4+.
Check:
The function of the brakes after bleeding. Check that there is no leakage
The brake fluid level.
Depress the brake pedal a few times.
Check the level of the brake fluid reservoir. Top up if necessary.
