Brake Disc Rear, Replacing
Rear brake disc

Preparatory work
Remove:
- the wheel
- the brake pads. See: Brake pads rear Brake Pads Rear
- the 2 screws
- the mounting bracket.
Removal
Removing the brake disc
Remove:
- the lock clip and discard it. This is only used during the production process.
- the brake disc.
Cleaning and checking
Cleaning and checking brake discs
Note! Cleaning is important to prevent lateral run out at the brake disc.
Clean the hub flange before installing the new brake disc.
Check the hub. Measure the lateral runout if the hub is damaged. See: Wheel hub rear, checking Wheel Hub Rear, Checking.
Installation
Installing the brake disc
Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque.
Note! Be careful when handling the new brake disc. Careless handling can cause damage to the brake disc (out-of-true).
Install:
- the brake disc
- the retaining clip.
Finishing
Installing the mounting bracket and the brake caliper
Install
- the mounting bracket
- the 2 screws. Tighten. See: Tightening torque Tightening Torque
- the brake pads. See: Brake pads rear Brake Pads Rear
Note! Use new brake pads
Depress the brake pedal a few times. Check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir. Top up if necessary.
Adjusting the parking brake
Check the parking brake. Adjust if necessary. See: Parking brake, adjusting Adjustments Parking brake, adjusting Adjustments.
Installing wheels
Install the wheel. See: Wheels Service and Repair.
