Rear Suspension






Spring rear, replacing

Special tools:

Removing the rear spring




Raise the vehicle.
Remove the wheels.
Install tensioner999 5659 Tension caliper 999 5659 Tension Caliper. See Tensioner 999 5659, User instructions User Instructions.
Press the tensioner up approximately 25 mm.
Remove the screw from the lower mounting for the shock absorber.
Press up the tensioner to the normal position.

Only cars with Bi-Xenon lamps
Remove the position sensor for Bi-Xenon lamps. See Position sensor Bi-Xenon lamps, replacing, TF-80SC AWD, AW50/51 AWD, M66 AWD Service and Repair.





Remove:
- the screw for the cross stay and wheel spindle. Release the stay and let it rest against the top of the wheel spindle.
- - the screw of the longitudinal stay and the wheel spindle
- the screw of the control arm and wheel spindle
Lower the control arm with the tensioner. The spring is now unloaded.
Lower the tensioner. Twist the tensioner so that it is positioned along the length of the car.
Press the control arm down by hand. Remove the spring.

Tightening torque

Installing the rear spring




Install the new spring.
Check that the spring is correctly installed in the lower spring seat.




Lift the removed control arm by hand. Position the tensioner in the rails.

Note! The tensioner must be positioned as far out as possible on the tensioner plates to achieve the correct lifting force.

Note! make sure the shock absorber mounting fits into the control arm attachment lugs.




Lift the control arms so that the screw for the control arm and lateral link can be installed. Align the screw. Tighten by hand. Do not tighten yet.
Lower the tensioner. Install the screw in the lower mounting for the shock absorber. Do not tighten yet.
Tension the control arms to the normal position. See Tensioner 999 5659, User instructions User Instructions.
Tighten the screws for the control arm, lateral link and shock absorber. M12
Fit the cross stay to the wheel spindle with a new M12 lock nut. Tighten.

Only cars with Bi-Xenon lamps
Install the position sensor for Bi-Xenon lamps. See Position sensor Bi-Xenon lamps, replacing, TF-80SC AWD, AW50/51 AWD, M66 AWD Service and Repair.

Finishing
Remove the tensioner according to: Tensioner 999 5659, User instructions User Instructions.
Install the wheel. See: Installing wheels Service and Repair.
Check and adjust the headlights' alignment according to: Headlamps, aligning Adjustments
