Tie rod, replacing

Removal

Removing the track rod





Remove:
- the wheel
- the mounting for the parking brake cable on the tie rod
- the inner and outer tie rod retaining screws
- the track rod.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Specifications.

Installing track rod

Install:
- the track rod
- the inner and outer retaining screws for the track rod. Do not tighten yet
- the mounting for the hand brake cable.
Install tensioner999 5659 Tension caliper 999 5659 Tension Caliper. Tighten the rear suspension to the normal position. See Tensioner 999 5659, User instructions User Instructions.
Tighten the outer tie rod screw (M12). See Tightening torque [1][2]Specifications.
Tighten the eccentric screw and nut (M12). See Tightening torque [1][2]Specifications.
Remove the tensioner and mountings.
Install the wheel. See: Installing wheels Service and Repair.
Carry out wheel alignment. See: Wheel alignment, checking / adjusting Service and Repair.
