Drive shaft right, replacing

Removal

Note! PreparationsSee Drive shaft left, replacing, B5254T2, M56 Service and Repair.

Remove the drive shaft from the gearbox





Remove:
- the splash guard under the engine. See Transmission oil / oil filter, replacing Removal and Replacement
- the cover for the drive shaft pilot bearing.
Pull the drive shaft straight out from the gearbox.

Note! Do not damage the drive shaft when removing it from the transmission.





Caution! Later models have a rubber seal on the constant velocity joint. Do not damage the seal. It will be needed for installation.

Installing the drive shaft

Install the drive shaft in the gearbox





Note! Do not damage the seal.

Installnew cap (steel) for the drive shaft support bearing. Tighten to 25 Nm.
Install the splashguard under the engine.

Align the drive shaft in the hub and the spring strut in the stub axle

Adjust the stub axle to the dimension measured prior to removal
