Rear Bumper: Service and Repair
Bumper rear, replacing
Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and / or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.
Preparatory work
Note! Remember to paint the bumper casing before replacement.
Removal
Removing the cargo compartment
Fold forward the rear section of the carpet (1) in the cargo compartment.
Turn the clip (2).
Remove the 4 clips for the left and right side panels.
Fold the panels forward towards the center.
Remove the cover plate (3). Remove the screws.
Grip the outer edges of the panel. Pull the panel inwards towards the center so that the clips release at the sides.
Disconnect the connectors (6) for the side lamps.
Remove the panel by pulling it straight upwards so that the clips release from the rear crossmember.
Removing the bumper mounting
Remove:
- the connector (2)
- the antenna.
Lift the latch for the connector. Pull carefully.
Remove the rubber seals (1). Remove the nuts (1).
Drill out the rivets in the underside. See Removing rivet .
Removing rear bumper
Pull the sides on the bumper outwards so that the lock facings (1) releases from the side bracket (2).
Then release the lock facings from the rear mounting (2) by pulling straight backwards.
Place the bumper on an underlay that will not damage the paint.
Components, replacing
Replacing the cover on the rear bumper
Note! Do not damage the antenna terminal when disassembling and assembling the bumper.
Disconnect the 4 clips (1) on the inside of the upper edge of the bumper.
Remove:
- the 10 outer lock facings (2)
- the 4 inner lock facings (2)
- the lower lock facings (3).
Replace the casing.
Transfer the components.
Assemble the bumper.
Replacing the rear corner bracket
Remove the 3 screws.
Replace the bracket.
Install the screws.
Replacing the rear side bracket
Drill out the rivets between the bracket and the fender liner. See Removing rivet .
Remove the 4 screws.
Replace the bracket.
Install the screws.
Installation
Installing the rear bumper
Note! Do not damage the antenna connection.
Guide the bumper against the rear mountings and press into place.
Then press the sides of the bumper into the side brackets.
Install 2 pop rivets in the underside of the casing.
Installing the cargo compartment
Install:
- the nuts (1). Tighten to 18 Nm
- the rubber seals (1) over the nuts.
Connect the connector for the radio antenna on the right-hand side.
Installing the cargo compartment panels
Install the panel for the rear crossmember.
Connect the wiring to the side lamps.
Screw the panel into place.
Fold back the side panel on the right and left sides.
Secure the clips and lock the panels into place.
Fold the cargo compartment carpet back into place.
