Preparatory work

Removing the propeller shaft
Remove the propeller shaft from the flange. See Propeller shaft Propeller Shaft.

Removal

Removing the flange




Remove the nut for the drive flange. Use 999 5652 Counterh. 999 5652 Counterh. together with 999 7058 Adapter 999 7058 Adapter. Mark the drive flange in relation to the end of the shaft.
Position a container underneath the Active on Demand Coupling.
Remove the drive flange. If the flange is stuck to the shaft, use: 999 5893 Puller 999 5893 Puller.




Check that the flange mating surface is free of defects. If not, replace the flange.

Removing the seal




Remove the seal from the AOC-coupling. Use: 999 5069 EXTRACTOR 999 5069 Extractor.
Check thoroughly that no seal residue remains.

Installation

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications. Tightening Torque

Installing the seal




Lubricate the new seal using oil for the Active on Demand Coupling, P/N 116 1641 (1 liter pack).
Use 999 7025 Drift Haldex coupling 999 7025 Drift Haldex Coupling for installation. Tap the seal into place until the surface of the drift is against the housing for the AOC-coupling.

Installing the flange




Install the flange on the AOC (Active on Demand Coupling) using the previous markings (if using the old flange).
Install a new nut on the shaft/drive flange. Use: 999 5652 Counterh. 999 5652 Counterh. together with: 999 7058 Adapter 999 7058 Adapter.
Tighten, see: Tightening torque Tightening Torque.
Fill the AOC (Active on Demand Coupling) with oil. Check the oil level. See: Clutch four-wheel drive Clutch Four-Wheel Drive.

Installing the propeller shaft
Install the propeller shaft on the flange. See: Propeller shaft Propeller Shaft.
