Transmission, preparations before installing

Checking the transmission




Check that the transmission mating surfaces are absolutely clean.
Lubricate the holes in the transmission (for the guide pins) and the hole for the guide pin for the starter motor. Use a little grease.
When replacing the transmission, transfer the bracket for the gear selector cable, 2 x M8. Tighten.

Checking the torque converter




Ensure that the torque converter is as far into the transmission as possible.
Check with a ruler that the distance between the cover and mounting lugs is approximately 14 mm.
Apply a small amount of grease to the guide pin for the torque converter.

Flushing the oil cooler





Caution! Ensure that all equipment is absolutely clean when carrying out the following work.

Connect a hose to the upper pipe sleeve on the oil cooler for the transmission.
Position a container below the lower line from the oil cooler.
Flush the oil cooler via the hose connected to the upper pipe sleeve for the oil cooler. Use automatic transmission fluid P/N 116 1540-8 (1 liter). Use an oil syringe or a funnel.

Checking the carrier plate




Check that the carrier plate is not damaged or cracked.

Check that mating surfaces of the engine are clean. Check that the guide bushings for the transmission are intact and in position.
