Check
Checks after replacing the transmission
Check the oil level. See: Transmission oil level - checking, B5254T7, AW55-50/51SN Checking Oil Level.
Note! If the transmission is replaced with a new or exchange transmission, it is supplied filled with oil plus a certain amount of "excess". This is to compensate for loss from the oil cooler. The oil level must always be checked however.
Test drive the vehicle. Use the test driving schedule. See: Test drive schedule, description, B5254T7, AW55-50/51SN Test Drive Schedule, Description.
Note! Check that no diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) have been stored during the test drive.
Note! After replacing the transmission, the transmission oil replacement counter must be reset. See: "Transmission oil, replacing".
Returning the transmission (Only when replacing the entire transmission assembly)
Return the old transmission unit.
In order to accurately analyze the transmission fault, information is required about all symptoms which have caused the unit to be replaced. This information must be reported on the "Diagnosis and Check List" form which has been provided. See: Diagnostics check list, B5254T7, AW55-50/51SN Diagnostics Check List.
Make sure that the form has been filled out correctly with all information including the customer remarks.
