Compact Disc Player (CD): Service and Repair






MiniDisc/CD control module, replacing

Removal and Installation

Note! As the illustrations in this service information are used for different model years and/or models, some variation may occur. However, the essential information in the illustrations is always correct.

Preparatory work




Move the gear selector to its rearmost position.
Detach the panel at the gear selector lever as illustrated and move it to one side.





Remove:
- the rear cover
- the 6 screws
- the top of the tunnel compartment.





Caution! Angle the infotainment/dashboard environment panel to one side. Do not disconnect the connectors.

Remove the screws from the bracket.
Angle out the infotainment/dashboard environment panel as illustrated.




Move the gear selector lever to position P.
Ignition off.
Disconnect the connectors.




Remove the infotainment unit screws.
Release the clips and remove the infotainment unit from the bracket.

Removing the MiniDisc/CD control module





Caution! If both a MiniDisc and CD control module is installed. Always remove the MiniDisc control module first.

Remove the screws.
Remove the MiniDisc and/or CD control module.

Installing the MiniDisc/CD control module

Note! For tightening torques, see Specifications [1][2]Specifications.





Caution! If installing both a MiniDisc and CD control module. Always install the CD unit first.

Install the MiniDisc/CD control module.
Install the screws.

Finishing work




Press the infotainment unit into place on the bracket.
Install the screws. Tighten.
Connect the connectors.

Note! The connectors for the MiniDisc/CD control module are identical and can be switched. Check that there is no dirt in the optical connectors. The bend radius of the optic cables must not be less than 25 mm.

Angle in the infotainment/dashboard environment panel and bracket.

Hint: Align the upper section and press it upwards so that the lower section can be worked in.

Install:
- 2 screws in the lower edge of the bracket
- the top of the tunnel compartment
- the 6 screws
- the rear cover
- the panel at the gear selector lever.
