Condenser HVAC: Service and Repair






Condenser, replacing

Preparatory work

Warning! Follow the safety instructions for work on air conditioning systems. See Refrigerant, safety regulations Technician Safety Information.

Caution! First read the instructions covering slow and fast leaks.

Caution! Always plug the pipes and connections when working on the climate control system.

Caution! Always use new O-rings lubricated with compressor oil.

Draining refrigerant
Drain the refrigerant from the system. See Refrigerant, draining Refrigerant, Draining.

Removal

Removing the radiator assembly




Remove the air conditioning aggregate and the receiver drier. See Radiator/charge air cooler (CAC), replacing Service and Repair.

Removing the condenser





Remove:
- the 2 screws (1)
- the additional charge air cooler (CAC)
- the condenser.

Installing the condenser

Install:
- the additional charge air cooler (CAC)
- the 2 M6 screws.
Install the air conditioning aggregate and the receiver drier. See Radiator/charge air cooler (CAC), replacing Service and Repair.

Finishing
Vacuum pump the air conditioning (A/C) system. See Vacuum pumping Vacuum Pumping.
Fill the air conditioning (A/C) system with refrigerant. See Refrigerant, filling Refrigerant, Filling.
Leak trace the air conditioning (A/C) system. See Leak tracing, fluorescent tracing agent / UV lamp Leak Tracing, Fluorescent Tracing Agent / UV Lamp or Leak tracing, electronic leak tracer Leak Tracing, Electronic Leak Tracer.
