Half shaft seal rear final drive housing, replacing

Removing drive shafts
Use tool 999 5681 Jimmy bar 999 5681 Jimmy Bar. See illustration for instructions on how to use the tool on the left and right-hand sides.
Removing the sealing rings
Use a jimmy bar.
Check that no seal residue is left in the final drive housing.
Installing the seals
Lubricate the lip of the seal using wheel bearing grease (1161251-2) (400 grams).
Use drift 999 5591 Punch 999 5591 Punch. Tap in the seals to the correct depth between the drift and final drive.
Note! There are different depths for the left and right-hand sides between the flange of the drift and the final drive housing.
On the left-hand side the depth (A) must be 0.5 mm. (Measured from the surface of the hooks on the nut).
On the right-hand side the depth (B) must be 6 mm. (Seal flush with the surface of the housing).
Note! After installing the seals, install the drive shafts. See Final drive, transferring components Final Drive, Transferring Components.
